Avatar 2

Director James Cameron wants the next installment of his ‘Avatar’ franchise to explore Pandora’s oceans.Revealing this to the media recently, Cameron said that his fictional planet’s aquatic life was equally rich and “diverse and crazy and imaginative” as its famously colourful land-based equivalent. According to him, many of the scenes would actually require underwater filming. “I think what we should do there  because we’ll have to have characters that are in and under the water is that we should actually capture them underwater,” Cameron explained. “It’s not the same as going diving, but I like to keep my diving, which I do for pleasure, separate from work.”

“The challenge will be on the next “Avatar” picture… to do what we did before at half the price and in half the time,” he explained. “Again, that’s an impossible goal, we won’t accomplish that, but if we can reduce by 25 percent in both categories, we’ll have really accomplished something.”
Cameron, who is on a publicity drive for Avatar's DVD release, said the sequel would take less time to shoot.

"The challenge on the next Avatar is to do what we did before at half the price and in half the time. Again, that's an impossible goal, we won't accomplish that, but if we can reduce by 25% in both categories, we'll have really accomplished something." Cameron also told the LA Times that his team was working on an extra six minutes of Avatar footage which would be added to the film for its August re-release at cinemas, something he said was due to overwhelming demand.
